Is it legal for Americans to travel to Cuba?
Yes. U.S. citizens can travel under one of 12 OFAC-authorized categories. Pure tourism remains prohibited, but 'Support for the Cuban People' is a self-certified category used by most independent travelers.
Do I need a visa to enter Cuba?
Yes. Every non-Cuban-born traveler needs a Cuba eVisa. Cuban-born travelers must enter on a Cuban passport.
How much does the Cuba eVisa cost?

Do I need a D'Viajeros form as well as an eVisa?
Yes — both are required. D'Viajeros is Cuba's universal digital entry form; complete it within 7 days of arrival.
Which airlines fly to Cuba in 2026?
Nine carriers: American, Delta, Southwest, United (suspended), Copa, Viva Aerobus, Aeroméxico, Volaris (no direct route), and Air Europa.
Can Canadians travel to Cuba for tourism?
Yes. Canada places no restrictions on Cuba travel. Canadians still need a Cuba eVisa and D'Viajeros form.
Do U.S. OFAC rules apply to non-American citizens?
No. OFAC restrictions bind only U.S. persons. Non-U.S. travelers connecting via the USA need valid U.S. transit authorization but no OFAC category.
Can I stay at any hotel in Cuba as a U.S. traveler?
No. Hotels on the U.S. State Department's Cuba Prohibited Accommodations (CPA) list are off-limits. Casas particulares are compliant with Support for the Cuban People.
Is the Cuba eVisa the same as the old tourist card?
No. The eVisa replaced the paper pink/green tourist cards in May 2024.
Do U.S. credit and debit cards work in Cuba?
Generally no. Bring cash for the entire stay.
Can I check in online for a Cuba flight?
No. U.S. carriers require in-person airport check-in for Cuba flights. Allow 3 hours.
What is a Cuba A-1 visa?
An additional requirement for passport holders from 20 specific countries, requiring more documentation and longer processing than the standard eVisa.
Can Cuban-born travelers use the eVisa?
No. As of July 1, 2024, Cuban-born travelers must enter Cuba on a Cuban passport.
Why did so many airlines cut Cuba service in 2025–2026?
A combination of softer demand, the June 2025 U.S. policy tightening, and the February–March 2026 Cuban fuel shortage. United suspended; Delta and Southwest reduced.
Is travel insurance included with the Cuba eVisa?
